Okay, I'm addicted to memes.
Trends come and go. Undoubtedly, this may end up being passé in the next year or so, but it's a bandwagon new enough for me to jump onto without much shame. Truthfully, I didn't have this effect at all in mind while shooting a quick burst of Melanie's reaction to David's vows. The shots were fortunately framed closely enough together to get the desired effect here. Okay, I'm addicted to memes.

If any of you have been following my work over the past few years, you'll remember my portrait session with Melanie two summers ago while I was back in Maryland for a couple weeks. The entire shoot, she couldn't stop talking about David, their adventures, and future plans. I semi-jokingly said in passing that if they ended up getting married and needing a photographer, I called dibs. As fate would have it, they did. With a 60 percent chance of rain, we braved the elements on the three-hour drive down to Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park, Virginia. Just as we arrived at the trail to the highest point along the Appalachian Trail, the rain stopped and the grey clouds passed. These two could honestly not have asked for better weather. We spent nearly two hours after the ceremony soaking in the beautiful scenery all around us. That morning, I was spoiled in more ways than one. So glad I called dibs. Congratulations, David and Mel!
