We didn't see it coming. Due to early-onset OCD, the bulk of my plans hinge on preparedness. From big things like an hour-by-hour itinerary of a weekend trip, to little things like bringing an extra toothbrush for said trip because you never know. Even in hindsight, I don't think there was any way that I, at least, could've guessed Abbie's family and friends had been conspiring to throw us a surprise wedding shower. The backstory was that I would be taking portraits of Abbie's sister Shelly and her boyfriend, Rudy, for this photobook his family would be printing but whose photoshoot she couldn't attend. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary that morning or the night before during dinner, so a party of any kind was definitely the last thing on my mind. This was clearly evidenced by my confused face as seen in the video taken when the doors to the rooftop function room were flung open revealing a cheering group of familiar faces. It was an absolute delight. The decor, as you'll see in the following photos, was meticulously prepared and handcrafted by Shelly and Abbie's dearest friends. Good food was aplenty and the raucous laughter during the games, more so. If anything, it was a foretaste of what our celebration in just two weeks (two weeks!) will be like. I typically hate surprises. But in this case, I think I can make an exception. Thank you to everyone who came out and made the evening an unforgettable one. See you again in two weeks! No surprises this time :) |
